Frequently Asked (and Totally Normal) Questions

What if my child is shy or unsure about lessons?

That’s completely normal — and very common! Our trial lesson is low-pressure, play-based, and designed to help your child warm up at their own pace. Some kids sing on the first day, others don’t speak until week four — both are absolutely okay.

Do we need to have an instrument at home before we start?

Not at all. Your child doesn’t need any gear for the trial lesson. If you decide to continue, we’ll help you find affordable, age-appropriate options for under $100.

What happens if we miss a lesson?

Life happens — we totally get it. We offer one make-up per month with at least 24-hour notice. If your child is sick or something comes up, just let us know in advance.

What ages do you teach?

We specialize in ages 3 to 10. Our lessons are developmentally designed for early childhood and young elementary students. If your child is outside that age range, feel free to reach out and we’ll let you know if we’re a good fit.

How do payments work?

Lessons are billed monthly, with automatic reminders. Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. We accept card, Venmo, and auto-invoice links. All families receive a digital policy agreement during enrollment.

Meet Ms. Jordyn

Educator. Musician. Advocate for Early Joy.

Hi! I’m Ms. Jordyn—founder of My Early Edge, early childhood music educator, and firm believer that every child deserves to learn in a space where they feel safe, seen, and celebrated.

For as long as I can remember, music has been my language—and early childhood education has been my calling.

I started as a voice major, studied child psychology, and spent years teaching young learners in both classroom and private settings.

What I found? Kids thrive when they’re met with patience, play, and purpose. That’s exactly what we offer here at My Early Edge.

Why My Early Edge Is Different—And Why It Matters

I started My Early Edge after watching too many little ones leave their very first lesson feeling small instead of inspired. Traditional programs were built for middle-school fingers and recital stages; they expect perfect posture, perfect pitch, perfect practice logs. A six-year-old hears that as “Don’t mess up.”

So I rewrote the rules:

Play First, Notes Later – We turn scales into rainbow treasure hunts, rhythm drills into freeze-dance battles. Kids laugh, wiggle, and—almost by accident—absorb the fundamentals.

Confidence Over Comparison – Progress is measured in “I did it!” smiles, not competition. Every high-five tells a child their creativity is worth celebrating.

Parents as Cheerleaders, Not Taskmasters – After each session you get quick, playful take-home ideas—no guilt-ridden practice charts.

The result? Children don’t just take music lessons; they claim music as a joyful part of who they are for years to come—and that passion can last a lifetime.

A Note to You, Teacher to Parent

If you’ve been searching for something that’s more than “just music lessons”—you’re in the right place. I can’t wait to meet your child, learn their rhythms, and help them grow through joyful music-making. Ready to begin?

"It was evident how much you cared about the students and in return, they really loved you. As a parent, knowing that you are sending your child to spend time someone who really cares about them is truly invaluable."

Ms. Jordyn is an exceptional teacher and caregiver, and her presence made a profoundly positive impact on our daughter's early development and well-being.

I worried my five-year-old wouldn’t sit still long enough to learn anything—she’s shy and fidgety. Jordyn turned every lesson into a game, and within a month our daughter was proudly teaching us the ‘Rainbow Rhythm’ she learned. Seeing her confidence bloom is priceless.
